Benjamin Robbins
Ben Robbins is a former EDGY presenter and LMFT working as a therapist with Penny Lane working with the LGBT TAY population. His clinical training has included a focus on trauma and he is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. His work with trans youth began in a college essay coaching job prior to becoming a therapist and his experience helping gender diverse teens was a significant part of his pivot to become an MFT. As a cisgender queer clinician, he will provide perspective on learning to understand the trans experience and its unique intersectional factors in mental healthcare.

SESSION OVERVIEW

Creating Trans-Inclusive Spaces in Group Therapy
As clinicians, we have the ability to provide safe-havens for queer youth in our offices and clinics. A particularly powerful experience for clients is feeling accepted, connected, and celebrated by their peers across the spectrum of gender and sexuality. Bringing youth together is a key way we can help them to build resilience, social support, and a vision for the future. Come learn about working with trans youth and groups from cis male clinician Ben Robbins as he shares his experience in and outside of clinical settings, and leave with takeaways for facilitating trans-inclusive groups. Join for perspective on clinical considerations in treating gender expansive youth and get answers to your questions about working with this underserved community.
