Robin Bruce
Ms. Bruce considers herself an expatriate from the southern state of Georgia. Having the freedom to transition freely in an institutionally supported environment enabled her to pursue a passionate career in community mental health. Having joined Penny Lane as part of her internship at UC Northridge's Marriage and Family Therapy Program, her work and research centered on providing care to gender non-conforming youths. She hopes to be able to share her unique clinical perspective as a trans woman working with trans children with other clinicians.

SESSION OVERVIEW

So You Think You Can Trans! Considerations for Treatment with Gender Expansive Youth
What is it like to be a trans teen in America today? Few have heard first-hand perspectives from a gender-diverse therapist on the clinical experience of trans youth in mental healthcare. Come learn about the daily stressors faced by trans youth and leave with takeaways for the cisgender clinician. CSUN MFT graduate Robin Bruce speaks to both sides of the trans therapeutic relationship and AMFT Ben Robbins shares experiences in helping as a cis male therapist who is learning along with you. Join them for a discussion of clinical considerations in treating gender-expansive clients and get answers to questions about treating this underserved and overrepresented population.
