SESSION OVERVIEW

Addiction and Mental Health Recovery in LGBTQ+ Community
How do we best support LGBTQ+ in recovery from mental health and addiction disorders? Utilizing personal, inpatient, and counseling experience, we will review best practices in delivering holistic care for LGBTQ+ in recovery. We will expand on various forms of care available and potential areas of improvement when considering supporting the LGBTQ+ population. Building on the strengths of the LGBTQ+ population, we will discuss how these assets can be integrated into the delivery of services. This presentation is based on personal first hand experience as a Trans/ Non Binary individual in mental health and substance use recovery. Additionally, this experience has been integrated into the development of curriculum and delivery of services for the LGBTQ+ community.
