SESSION OVERVIEW

Establishing a Culture of CARE in K-12 Schools
Based on the grounded theoretical framework of a culture of CARE (Compassion, Awareness, Respect, & Empathy), this training introduces the framework that all educators, parents, and administrators can implement to practically incorporate culturally relevant pedagogical and organizational practices. We encourage teachers and all other educational partners to explore each aspect of the framework. We will provide useful strategies that promote an inclusive curriculum and safe school environments in which all LGBTQ+ youth can thrive. We include parents and demonstrate how they can work in tandem with educators to foster a culture of CARE in the home. This workshop affords all participants opportunities to envision themselves as advocates for LGBTQ+ youth and to become agents of change in their own school settings.
